Should the University make use of the electronic billboards around campus to make the climate crisis relevant and acknowledged by students, staff and the public?

Passed: May 2022 (12th)

What do you want? / Why do you want it?

I want the University to provide a climate billboard that updates students on current climate crisis related news. It would stress issues from the global South and indigenous communities as their representation in the debate is grossly absent. The problem I and many others are trying to solve is avoiding and mitigating mass extinction or climate collapse. In addition, educating students, staff and anyone else on campus would ensure that the climate crisis does not disappear after COP26 and once the media tires of the issue.

My idea would be a solution because it would help people understand the scale of the crisis as usually lack of information is a barrier to engaging with the crisis.

Content would be provided by the staff and student body, including research papers, journalistic articles and graphic artwork. Updates to the content would happen fortnightly.
