The University should move the timetable system onto Outlook

Passed: May 2019 (14th)

What do you want? / Why do you want it?

Students already have to use Outlook and OneDrive to support their studies, so it would be easier to use Outlook calendars for our timetables as well. It's also more in-line with what we'll be expected to use in industry. There are useful apps and widgets which would make timetables more accessible from a mobile device, and the interface is much more user-friendly.

Additionally, it would be much easier to see where there were timetable clashes and could make it easier to implement the LUU policy on displaying assessment submission deadlines on student's timetables.

June 2020: Unfortunately there are no major updates to this work over the summer as a result of lots of LUU staff being furloughed (ongoing), as well as the LUU building and campus being closed. As staff return to work and the new Officer team settle into their roles this will be picked up again.

December 2019: You can technically download your timetable into Outlook, but this is a manual process.

September 2019: No progress as yet, it is on the Education Officer's list of priorities and something we're feeling positive about lobbying on. Links with lots of other policy around timetabling and clarity for students.

May 2019: New Policy
