LUU should annually review their preferred taxi partner

Passed: March 2020 (16th)

What do you want? / Why do you want it?

LUU should annually review their preferred taxi partner for the safe taxi service with immediate effect, ensuring that any decision for a new partner is informed by student feedback. It is essential that students are confident about the company selected and that LUU build in measures which promote student welfare as a priority for any partner. This could look similar to the checklist that LUU currently uses when inviting landlords to the housing fair. The process should be led by the Exec Officers, alongside current students, as it’s their welfare at stake.

I’ve heard from dozens of students that they are unhappy with the current provider, in person, on Facebook and on a petition that I set up. At the time of writing the petition has over 650 signatures, and rising - reflecting students’ concerns around the current provider and their continued association with LUU.

Ensuring the safety and security of students in and around the city is vital, I think we can go some way towards that by making sure that the partner for the Union is one that’s trusted and recommended by students.
