LUU should lobby the University to reform the laundry arrangements for University accommodation

Passed: May 2019 (16th)

What do you want? / Why do you want it?

We need washing machines and dryers that do not operate through Circuit Laundry. I have found that Circuit Laundry is not efficient both economically (it's expensive) and is extremely miserable in terms of customer service. Their app has trouble connecting to the machine and their customer service is either not available or simply not helpful. The dryers are out of order sometimes and take a day or two to repair. Why have a middle man at all? Why not have a machine for each floor? Most standard houses have it.

Officer: Community / Union Affairs

Area of Work: Accommodation

June 2020: Unfortunately there are no major updates to this work over the summer as a result of lots of LUU staff being furloughed (ongoing), as well as the LUU building and campus being closed. As staff return to work and the new Officer team settle into their roles this will be picked up again.

December 2019: This was raised with Residential Services, but no major progress made. Not a priority area of work for the Community Officer.

September 2019: Cat, Community Officer, raising this in next catch-up with University Services.

May 2019: New Policy. UoL are moving towards having individual washer/dryers in University Accommodation kitchens.
