LUU should provide more society storage

Passed: November 2018 (19th)

What do you want/Why do you want it?

I'm not studying music but I am planning on being an active participant in LUUMS and other music ensembles in the Union. My problem is I play large instruments and don't have time to go back home and pick up my instruments between lectures and rehearsals. There is nowhere in the uni I can leave my instruments as the storage in the School of Music is only for music students and I think this should either be accessible to those who are a member of music societies or the Union should have a room dedicated to instrument storage.

Officer: Union Affairs / Activities

Area of Work: Societies

June 2020: Unfortunately there are no major updates to this work over the summer as a result of lots of LUU staff being furloughed (ongoing), as well as the LUU building and campus being closed. As staff return to work and the new Officer team settle into their roles this will be picked up again.

March 2020: As below, this is a larger piece of ongoing work. Storage being looked at as a whole. Executive Category Meetings took place in February, with a focus on space allocation - Activities Team assessing outputs from that.

November 2019: Looking at Springfield Mount as new storage space. But this is a continual piece of work.

October 2019: Another audit of cage usage is planned.

June 2019: This is a feature of Lauren's, the Union Affairs Officer, manifesto - looking at how we effectively use all of our spaces in the Union anyway. Facilities Manager is doing a review of all LUU spaces, looking at what we have, what we use etc

March 2019: Cages in Level 2 meeting room corridor got cleaned and cages reallocated - but still issues. Some groups who requested cages not using them and vice versa.

November 2018: New Policy - But work is underway on this problem
